A native of Cheshire, Connecticut, Andrew S. Knott is a partner and attorney at the law firm Knott & Knott. With a primary focus on estate planning, he serves clients in the New Haven and the Greater Bridgeport metropolitan area.
An alumnus at the Quinnipiac University School of Law, Mr. Knott secured his doctorate in jurisprudence in 2003. He is a B.A. graduate of philosophy from Magdalene College. He was a valued member of the college’s Italian Law Society and the Catholic Law Society, and was a representative of the Intercollegiate Studies Institute.
Mr. Knott gained experience handling a wide variety of matters including planning, administration and litigation in cases involving probate, trust, estate and elder law. In the 19 years of his legal career so far, he has also worked in cases of special needs, Social Security, abuse, health insurance, bioethics and exploitation across courts.
Serving as a public defender, Mr. Knott has drafted and argued appellate cases on habeas corpus and other matters related to criminal law. He has also held several fiduciary positions of trust as a conservator, administrator, guardian, trustee and executor.
Mr. Knott is licensed to practice before all the federal courts in Connecticut. He has memberships in the New Haven County Bar Association, the Connecticut Bar Association, the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. He also serves as a board member in government organizations such as the U.S. Selective Service System, the Greater New Haven Transit District and the New Haven Democracy Fund.
Owing to his success in the legal field, Mr. Knott was selected for the Connecticut Bar Association’s Outstanding Achievement Award and the Pro Bono Award. He was also the recipient of the Connecticut Law Tribune’s New Leader in Law Award.
