Gaetano Ferro has practiced divorce, family, and matrimonial law since 1978. He represents clients whose cases involve complex and sophisticated financial and/or child custody issues. In addition to practicing in Connecticut’s trial courts, Attorney Ferro has handled numerous significant family law appeals.
Attorney Ferro was the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers’ Fellow of the Year in 2012. He been named one of Super Lawyers Magazine’s top ten lawyers in Connecticut eight times. No other Connecticut divorce, family and matrimonial lawyer have ever been so honored even once. He has continuously been listed as one of Super Lawyers’ top one hundred lawyers in New England and as one of Connecticut’s top fifty lawyers since Super Lawyers’ inception. Attorney Ferro is a past president of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, a diplomate of the American College of Family Trial Lawyers, a past chair of the Connecticut Bar Association’s Family Law Section, and a past president of the Connecticut Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.
Mr. Ferro was Editor in Chief of the Journal of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and of the Connecticut Family Lawyer. He was the Connecticut Bar Journal’s Senior Topical Editor for Family Law for thirteen years and also served as Executive Editor of the Connecticut Law Review.
Mr. Ferro has authored more than forty-five published articles on a wide variety of family law topics. He has lectured and given family law demonstrations on more than one hundred occasions to many different professional organizations across the country. He has taught, for 10 years, at the annual 8-day Family Law Trial Advocacy Institute in Boulder, Colorado, a program co-sponsored by the American Bar Association’s Family Law Section and the National Institute for Trial Advocacy.
Mr. Ferro served on the State of Connecticut Judicial Task Court which created the Connecticut’s Family Rules of Court and serves on the Connecticut Judicial Branch’s Family Commission.
Mr. Ferro frequently serves, pro bono, as a Special Court Master in family and child custody cases in the Stamford and Middletown Superior Courts.
