The Connecticut Bar Association admitted her to practice that same year, and she is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.

    A leader in her field, Ms. Haakonsen has several publications to her credit, and she has served as president of the Connecticut Counsel for Divorce Mediation and Family Dispute Resolution, the Hartford Association of Women Attorneys and the Connecticut Council for Divorce Mediation. She has also served as co-chair of the Hartford County Bar Association's Family Law Committee, and she is a member of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association, the Association for Conflict Resolution, the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, and other local, state and national legal organizations.
