Details

A partner at Brown Paindiris & Scott LLP, Kathryn Bissonnette focuses her practice exclusively on family law matters. From the firm's offices in Glastonbury and Hartford, Connecticut, her client base comes from Hartford County and other parts of the state. A large portion of her caseload involves the representation of people who are facing the end of their marriage and who are having to deal with such divorce-related issues as the division of complex assets and debts, alimony, child support, custody and visitation.

In the latter regard, Ms. Bissonnette has been able to draw on her prior experience as a staff attorney with The Children's Law Center of Connecticut, Inc. where she was often appointed by family court judges as a guardian ad litem to look out for the best interests of children of indigent families who were involved in custody disputes.

Ms. Bissonnette also has experience in preparing and reviewing prenuptial agreements, and she has provided representation to people who have been held in contempt of court regarding child support orders. In addition to her nearly five years of experience with the nonprofit children's legal organization, she spent several years as an assistant clerk for judges and family support magistrates serving in the Waterbury Judicial District.

Majoring in criminal justice, Ms. Bissonnette attended Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut, and she received a Bachelor of Science summa cum laude in 2007. While she was there, she was inducted into Alpha Phi Sigma, the national criminal justice honor society.

Ms. Bissonnette’s legal education came at the University of Connecticut School of Law, and she was awarded her Juris Doctor in 2011. Admitted to practice before all Connecticut state courts, she is a member of the Family Law Section of the Connecticut Bar Association.
