Deane School of Law at Hofstra University in 1988. While there, he served as the managing editor of the Hofstra Property Law Journal. He obtained his license to practice law in all the state courts of Connecticut in 1988 and the federal courts the following year.
A former legal advisory board member of the state of Connecticut Workers' Compensation Commission, Mr. Shafner drafted several workers’ compensation guidelines to improve medical care and coordination, and guarantee income loss benefits and other protections to injured workers and their families. He has appeared in several appeals hearings before the state of Connecticut Workers' Compensation Commission and submitted oral arguments and amicus curiae briefs with the Connecticut Supreme Court.
A long-serving member of the Connecticut Bar Association, Mr. Shafner is a part of its Workers’ Injury Law and Advocacy Group and previously worked for its Workers’ Compensation Executive Committee. Furthermore, he is the co-chair of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association – Workers’ Compensation Section. He regularly addresses and connects with the audience at seminars where he shares effective information on workers’ compensation law.
