The co-founder of Freed Marcroft, LLC, Meghan Freed handles a variety of family law matters for her clients in the Hartford, Connecticut, metropolitan area. She assists people who are facing the end of their marriages and who need help with such issues as property division, child custody and visitation, and spousal and child support. A fierce advocate in the courtroom, Ms. Freed also handles these matters through mediation and arbitration, and her negotiation skills have been bolstered by her participation in the Program on Negotiation, taught by professors from Harvard Law School, Tufts University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She has received a "Superb" peer review rating through Avvo.

Ms. Freed is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College, where in 1998 she received a Bachelor of Arts in history and was a featured commencement speaker. She subsequently attended Western New England College of Law on a full merit-based scholarship and obtained her Juris Doctor cum laude in 2004. While in law school, Ms. Freed was the managing editor of the Western New England Law Review. After graduation, she was associated with two well-known law firms and then was in-house counsel at a Hartford insurance company before co-founding her current firm in 2012. Ms. Freed is admitted to practice before all Connecticut state courts.

A portion of Ms. Freed's practice is dedicated to LGBT issues. She was a co-author of an amicus curiae brief that was filed in connection with the Connecticut Supreme Court's 2008 decision that held that allowing same-sex unions but not marriages was a violation of the state Constitution. Ms. Freed is a member of several legal organizations, including the Hartford County Bar Association, where she sits on its board of directors. Community-minded as well, she is a member of the board of overseers of The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts.
