A partner at The Flood Law Firm, LLC, in Middletown, Connecticut, Brian M. Flood has nearly three decades of experience in the legal sphere. Representing clients in matters of personal injury law, he handles cases of motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, brain injury, slip-and-fall, medical malpractice, wrongful death and nursing home abuse. As a trial advocate certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, he remains dedicated to offering his clients throughout Connecticut high-quality legal representation.
After completing his undergraduate studies at Providence College, Mr. Flood enrolled at Quinnipiac University School of Law to hone his advocacy skills. While in law school, he served as associate editor of the law review. He earned his Juris Doctor in 1997 and gained licensure to practice in Connecticut the same year. Throughout his career, he has settled numerous cases and tried approximately 200 cases to verdict.
Mr. Flood acted as counsel in the notable case Shea v. Doherty in 2005. The defense presented evidence showing that the plaintiff had consumed alcohol before the incident occurred. Yet, the court ruled that a trial judge may instruct a jury that alcohol consumption impairs observation and memory as common knowledge without requiring expert testimony on the plaintiff’s blood alcohol reports and upheld the $637,705.72 award.
Fighting tenaciously against insurance companies, Mr. Flood received the T. Paul Tremont Award from the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association. He is also an honoree of the National Board of Trial Advocacy President’s Award. As an active member of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association, he served on the Board of Governors and the executive committee. Additionally, he maintains a “Superb” rating on Avvo, showcasing his commitment to providing high-quality service and ensuring justice is accessible to his clients.
