Joan Reed Wilson

Attorney Joan Reed Wilson is the managing partner at the law firm of RWC, LLC, Attorneys and Counselors at Law in Middletown, Connecticut, where she concentrates her practice on Estate Planning, Elder Law, Medicaid planning, Conservatorships, Probate Administration, Trust Administration, and Real Estate closings. Attorney Wilson represents clients in Middlesex, Hartford, and New Haven Counties. Additional satellite offices are located in Clinton and North Haven.

After graduating from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, where she majored in economics, Attorney Wilson earned her law degree from Boston University School of Law. As a law student, she served as editor-in-chief of the American Journal of Law & Medicine. She graduated cum laude in 1997.

Continuing her training after earning her degree, Attorney Wilson has been accredited by the Veterans Administration, and by Connecticut’s PLAN Pooled Trust, which helps disabled people over the age of 65. 

Before starting RWC, LLC, Attorneys and Counselors at Law, Attorney Wilson worked for several years at a law firm in California. She is qualified to appear before all state courts in both Connecticut and California.

Over her years in practice, Attorney Wilson has earned a reputation for her knowledge and professionalism. The speaker of the Connecticut House of Representatives appointed her to a special task force designed to help protect senior citizens from fraud. She was also appointed to the Connecticut Attorneys Title Insurance Company’s advisory committee. 

Attorney Wilson is trained in elder law mediation and continues to further her training and education to better serve the needs of clients and their families, including obtaining her professional certification in applied positive psychology from the University of Pennsylvania in 2023.

Attorney Wilson is active in several community organizations and professional associations including the Connecticut Bar Association’s Elder Law Section, the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce, and the Clinton Chamber of Commerce. She was recently elected president of the Connecticut Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.
