Charles Edward Tiernan III is the principal attorney at the law firm of Lynch, Traub, Keefe & Errante. Focusing his practice on criminal law, workers’ compensation, administrative law, juvenile delinquency, child neglect matters and probate law, he serves clients throughout New Haven, Connecticut. 

Mr. Tiernan is a fierce and tireless advocate for the rights and freedoms of his clients. Going the extra mile for them, he handles all cases efficiently with a firm commitment to their interests. With a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Trinity College, Mr. Tiernan has a Juris Doctor from the Drake University Law School. While in law school, he was on the board of editors of the Drake Law Review and published an article titled “Standing Barriers to Citizen and Taxpayers Suits in the Federal Court” in 1983. He also clerked at the Connecticut Superior Court. In addition to his law practice, Mr. Tiernan was elected to serve as the Probate Judge for the towns of Branford/North Branford beginning on January 4, 2023.

With memberships in prominent legal associations, Mr. Tiernan is actively affiliated with the legal community. He is a member of the New Haven County Bar Association, the Connecticut Bar Association, the Connecticut Bar Association’s Workers’ Compensation Section and the Executive Committee, and the American Bar Association. 

Admitted to practice in Connecticut, Mr. Tiernan represents his clients before the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit, the Supreme Court of the United States and the U.S. Tax Court. He has lectured at numerous legal associations and has also served as an adjunct professor at Quinnipiac University.
