Details
Focusing his practice primarily on divorce and other family law matters, Thomas A. Esposito is a member of Welty Esposito & Wieler LLC. Based in the firm's office in New Haven, Connecticut, he represents clients throughout the greater metropolitan area as well as in Fairfield County. Mr. Esposito has been admitted to practice before all Connecticut state courts since 1990.
A significant portion of Mr. Esposito’s practice is devoted toward his providing advice and counsel to people who are seeing their marriages come to an end. He works with them to find resolutions to such divorce-related issues as child custody and visitation, spousal and child support, and the division of complex marital assets and debts, including retirement plans and business ownership interests. When litigation proves to be necessary, Mr. Esposito provides vigorous trial advocacy on their behalf, but his training in mediation often allows him to help his clients come to an accord on some or all of these matters without having to go through a lengthy and public courtroom battle.
Mr. Esposito has also represented clients in guardianship and other proceedings in probate court, and he has handled child protection cases in administrative hearings before the Connecticut Department of Children and Families. Additionally, he has helped clients who want to expand their families through assisted reproductive technology.
As an undergraduate, Mr. Esposito attended the University of New Haven in the city where he was born and raised, and in 1987, he received a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice. He then pursued his legal education at Quinnipiac University School of Law and was awarded his Juris Doctor in 1990. In 2020 Mr. Esposito received a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Southern Connecticut State University. He is an adjunct professor at Quinnipiac University School of Law where he teaches Advanced Child Protection Practice.
