James N. Tallberg is the managing partner of Rocky Hill, Connecticut-based Karsten & Tallberg, LLC. Admitted to practice before all Connecticut state courts since 1996, he is additionally admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut, the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Southern districts of New York, and the Supreme Court of the United States. Mr. Tallberg also serves as the attorney for the Connecticut town of Enfield.
A significant portion of Mr. Tallberg’s practice involves his defense of law enforcement personnel and other public officials as well as public entities that are facing civil claims. His caseload in this regard has encompassed excessive use of force, violations of state and federal civil rights laws, and unlawful searches and seizures. Mr. Tallberg has also defended clients against labor and employment law claims, including wrongful termination, retaliation, discrimination and harassment.
Mr. Tallberg has a general civil and business litigation practice as well. He has worked on cases involving negligence, contract breaches and allegations of unfair trade practices governed by Connecticut and federal statutes. Mr. Tallberg’s successes in and out of the courtroom has led to him being certified in civil trial law by the National Board of Trial Advocacy along with other recognition from his peers.
Mr. Tallberg attended Southern Connecticut State University as an undergraduate, majoring in political science and receiving a bachelor’s degree in 1987. He subsequently pursued his legal education at the University of Connecticut School of Law, and he was an editor of the Connecticut Insurance Law Journal before being awarded his Juris Doctor with honors in 1996. Mr. Tallberg has been with his current firm since January 1996.
