Peter Dreyer represents families who have lost loved ones as a result of medical malpractice, drowning incidents, trucking collisions and fires. Since joining the firm in 2001, he has recovered more than $225 million for his clients.

Most recently, Peter secured one of the largest verdicts in Connecticut history – a $49 million medical malpractice verdict on behalf of a woman and her husband arising from the failure to properly screen for and timely diagnose cervical cancer. The verdict included a $10 million award for loss of consortium, the largest such award ever in Connecticut.

That result is part of a broader record of substantial recoveries, including medical malpractice settlements of $10 million, $8.4 million, $7.9 million, $7.5 million, and $7 million; a $10.4 million recovery for a brain-injured drowning victim; and an $11.85 million settlement for a catastrophically injured pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle.

Peter has also argued before the Connecticut Supreme Court, where he successfully represented his client in Downs v. Trias et al., a significant medical malpractice case.

Before entering private practice, Peter served as an Assistant District Attorney in Bronx County, New York, one of the largest prosecutor’s offices in the United States. In that role, he tried cases involving serious felony charges, including murder, armed robbery, and gang assault, conducted grand jury investigations, and prosecuted juvenile offenders charged with violent crimes.

Peter has been widely recognized for his excellence in trial advocacy. He was named Lawyer of the Year by Best Lawyers for Personal Injury Litigation–Plaintiffs in 2022 and for Product Liability Litigation–Plaintiffs in 2020. He has been selected to Super Lawyers annually since 2009 and holds an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, its highest distinction. He currently serves as President of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association.
