Richard A. Mr. Silver received his Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law, his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania and an honorary Doctor of Laws from Quinnipiac University School of Law. Admitted to practice in Connecticut, he is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Former president of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association and a member of its board of governors, Mr. Silver also serves as a chair of its Medical Malpractice Committee. He has served as the president of the Connecticut Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates and has been the chair of Connecticut's Judicial Selection Commission.

Aside from teaching trial practice at Yale Law School from 1978 to 1984 and being on the advisory board of the Quinnipiac University School of Law since 1982, Mr. Silver is a member of the American Law Institute and the American Association for Justice. He is listed in Best Lawyers in America and has received an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
