Robert A. Skovgaard

Attorney Robert A. Skovgaard is the founder and owner of the Law Office of Robert A. Skovgaard in Stamford, Connecticut. A very versatile attorney with over 40 years of legal experience, Mr. Skovgaard serves clients throughout Fairfield County and the surrounding areas who have legal needs involving family law, criminal law and real estate.

A 1974 graduate of Amherst College, Mr. Skovgaard attended the University of Connecticut School of Law, where he obtained his Juris Doctor, cum laude, in 1977. The Connecticut Bar Association admitted him to practice that same year, and he is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the District of Connecticut and the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, as well as before the U.S. Supreme Court.

Certified as a divorce mediator, Mr. Skovgaard strives to help his clients resolve their conflicts involving child custody and support and other aspects related to divorce in the most amicable and efficient manner possible. In addition, Mr. Skovgaard also serves as guardian ad litem to minor children, working hard to protect their rights and best interests during all divorce proceedings. He has also served as special master for divorce and family matters since 2002, and he has acted as an attorney trial referee since 1995.

The recipient of numerous judicial department appointments, Mr. Skovgaard has garnered as much success as a criminal defense attorney as he has as a family law attorney. He is the past recipient of the American Jurisprudence award for Constitutional Law, as well as the American Jurisprudence award for contract law, recognizing his invaluable contributions to clients dealing with complex real estate transactions.
