Attorney Sean K. McElligott is a partner with the law firm of Silver Golub & Teitell LLP, with headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut. He concentrates his practice on personal injury law, particularly catastrophic injury, product liability and medical malpractice. He represents the injured and their families throughout Connecticut.

A skilled negotiator and trial lawyer for more than 20 years, Mr. McElligott has extensive experience at both the trial and appellate levels, in both state and federal courts. Over the years, he has secured tens of millions of dollars in compensation for his clients in jury verdicts, and more than $100 million in out-of-court settlements. He has been honored by numerous professional groups.

Several of his cases have set legal precedent, including a case before the Connecticut Supreme Court that clarified that loss of consortium claims can apply to same-sex relationships. He once served on a team of lawyers to appear before the U.S. Supreme Court in a case involving important questions about appellate law.

In addition to his typical case load, Mr. McElligott maintains a robust pro bono practice. In this capacity he represents people whose civil rights have been violated, including the wrongfully convicted and victims of police brutality. He has also authored books on legal practice, taught courses for professional groups and delivered many presentations for Connecticut lawyer organizations. Since 2018, he has served on the Standing Committee for Recommendations to the Bar in Fairfield County.

A graduate of Trinity College, Mr. McElligott earned his law degree at Yale Law School. He served at a prominent law firm in New York for 10 years before returning to Connecticut and joining Silver Golub & Teitell LLP.
