Joseph D. Stanley

Joseph D. Stanley is an associate attorney at Schwartz & Schwartz, Attorneys at Law, P.A., in Dover, Delaware. Mr. Stanley practices in a wide variety of areas, including criminal defense, civil litigation, contract law and personal injury law, representing clients throughout the Dover area. 

As a personal injury attorney, Mr. Stanley represents clients in matters involving car accidents, construction accidents, medical malpractice, slip-and-fall injuries, workers’ compensation and wrongful death. In his criminal defense practice, he defends clients against DUI charges, as well as other misdemeanors and felonies. He also has experience prosecuting and defending breach of contract cases and litigating civil rights cases involving negligent security and police misconduct.

Mr. Stanley graduated from the University of Delaware with bachelor’s degrees in philosophy and political science. He went on to obtain a master’s degree in urban affairs and public policy before earning his law degree from Seton Hall University School of Law. He holds a license to practice law before all Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania state courts.

Earlier in his legal career, Mr. Stanley worked as a legislative fellow for the Delaware State House of Representatives and served as an extern for a Kent County Court of Common Pleas judge. Additionally, he clerked for a private attorney for two years and then spent two years clerking for Schwartz & Schwartz, Attorneys at Law, P.A., before joining the firm as an associate.
