For over 15 years, attorney Aileen Fernandez-Mesa has devoted her legal practice to matters concerning family law. A partner at the law firm of Orshan, Spann & Fernandez-Mesa in Coral Gables, Florida, she has made a name for herself for her resolution-focused, direct approach.  

Ms. Fernandez-Mesa uses her knowledge of Florida family laws and her collective legal wisdom to represent clients in cases involving divorce, child custody and support, paternity, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, property and debt division, alimony and more. She also handles dependency matters and frequently acts as a court-appointed guardian ad litem.

At the University of Florida, Ms. Fernandez-Mesa completed her Bachelor of Science with a concentration in psychology and English in 2003. She received a doctorate in law in 2007 from St. Thomas University College of Law and was authorized to practice law in Florida the same year. She is fluent in English and Spanish.

Before joining Orshan, Spann & Fernandez-Mesa as an associate in 2012, Ms. Fernandez-Mesa worked at the Florida Department of Children and Families as a lead attorney and then as a division chief. During her time there, she was bestowed with the Outstanding Achievement Award for Trial Preparation in 2009 and was recognized with a Formal Commendation from the secretary of the agency in 2010 for her efforts.

A long-serving member of The Florida Bar, Ms. Fernandez-Mesa is also affiliated with the Cuban American Bar Association (CABA) and the First Family Law American Inn of Court. Moreover, she has served as the co-chair of the Florida State Employees' Charitable Campaign and as the president of KidSide, a nonprofit that aids children from low-income families.

Ms. Fernandez-Mesa is a recipient of several awards and honors. She was recognized by the Lawyers of Distinction and listed among America's Most Honored Professionals: Top 5% as well as Top 1% by The American Registry.
