Geannina Burgos

As a partner at the Dabdoub Law Firm, Geannina Burgos devotes her practice to advocating on behalf of people who are entitled to receive disability benefits. Ms. Burgos chose to focus on disability law when she saw first hand the difficulties her father-in-law had with insurance companies after he was diagnosed with a serious neuromuscular condition at the age of 28. Fluent in English and Spanish, Ms. Burgos works with her clients through the entire disability claims process. She helps them with the initial claims paperwork and represents them in appeals hearings if their claims are denied. 

After earning her Juris Doctor from the Florida International University College of Law in 2014, Ms. Burgos was admitted to the Florida Bar and licensed to practice law before the state courts of Florida and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Florida. Ms. Burgos is a member of the Miami-Dade County Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association and the Hispanic National Bar Association, and she has been awarded academic fellowships by organizations, including the American Society of Public Administrators, the Ruden McClosky Foundation and the Florida Association of Women Lawyers.

Most of the cases Ms. Burgos handles deal with the Employee Retirement Income Security Act, which is the federal law governing most disability benefit claims. However, she has also represented clients in state courts when insurers denied disability claims unfairly. Focusing her practice on disability cases has given Ms. Burgos a great deal of experience. She has handled just about every kind of disability case, and she had represented clients covered by all of the country’s major disability insurance companies.
