Sonia Roca

A co-founder of and a partner at Lopez Roca, P.A., Sonia Roca focuses her practice exclusively on personal injury and wrongful death litigation. Her firm is based in Coral Gables, Florida, and she represents clients throughout Miami-Dade County.

Born and raised in Miami and fluent in Spanish as well as in English, Ms. Roca attended the University of Florida, and in 2005 she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in criminology. She then pursued her legal education through a merit scholarship at the University of Miami School of Law, and in 2009 she was awarded her Juris Doctor.

Prior to co-founding Lopez Roca, P.A., in March 2012, Ms. Roca defended insurance companies against the same types of claims that she now files on behalf of people who have been harmed by the negligence of other parties. This experience has allowed her to often anticipate the types of delaying tactics that she often faces in her capacity as a plaintiff’s attorney. The types of cases that she has handled over the past several years have included premises liability, professional negligence, motor vehicle crashes, and defective products, and she has been able to obtain millions of dollars in compensation for her injured clients through both negotiated settlements and jury awards at the conclusion of trials.

Ms. Roca has been admitted to practice before all Florida state courts since 2011, and she is additionally admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. She stays abreast of current developments in the law by her membership in the Florida Association for Women Lawyers, Inc., and other professional groups.
