Carlos A. Velasquez founded the law offices of Velasquez Dolan, PA, a boutique litigation firm in Plantation, Florida, to tenaciously advocate for those who have been the victims of injuries through no fault of their own. He handles a variety of personal injury matters involving automobile accidents, wrongful death, brain injuries, premises accidents, defective products, dog bites and tractor-trailer wrecks. He also assists with commercial litigation, aviation litigation, professional liability matters and business litigation.

Mr. Velasquez is aware that the repercussions of an injury affect every aspect of the injured person and their family and prides himself in giving people their voice and the financial support they need to deal with the aftermath of an accident. He has earned several multimillion-dollar verdicts and settlements on behalf of his clients, earning his inclusion in the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum.

Board-certified in civil trial law by The Florida Bar Board of Legal Specialization, Mr. Velasquez started his career by clerking for U.S. Congressman Eugene Clay Shaw and practiced immigration law with an emphasis on naturalization and deportation matters. He later worked for two renowned insurance defense firms. These experiences have provided him with a powerful perspective on genuinely understanding what his clients and their families need.

A native of New York City, New York, Mr. Velasquez completed his B.A. at the Florida Atlantic University in 1984. He received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law in 1988 and his Florida license the same year. Additionally, he has appeared before the U.S. District Court for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces. He also served as a commissioned officer with the U.S. Army Reserves Judge Advocate General's Corps (JAG).

Mr. Velasquez focuses his efforts on giving back to his community by maintaining active memberships in the American Bar Association, the American Board of Trial Advocates, the Florida Justice Association, the Broward County Bar Association, the Hispanic National Bar Association, the Broward County Hispanic Bar Association and the Broward County Justice Association.

In honor of Mr. Velasquez’s accomplishments, he was rated AV Preeminent* through Martindale-Hubbell, the organization’s highest possible rating. He won the 2015 Litigator Award from the Trial Lawyers Board of Regents and was named to the Legal Leaders of Florida list by the Miami Herald. Furthermore, he was recognized by The Florida Bar for his “meritorious public service.”
