Carmen G. Soto

A native of South Florida, Carmen G. Soto is the owner of her eponymous law firm. Based in Fort Lauderdale, she divides her practice between family law and consumer bankruptcy, representing clients throughout Broward County. Admitted to practice in Florida, Ms. Soto is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida, as well as before the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida.

The primary portion of Ms. Soto's family law practice involves her representation of clients whose marriages are coming to an end and who are thus needing to deal with property division, child custody and visitation, and spousal and child support. Florida law requires almost everyone who is seeking a divorce to go through mediation first, and her experience in that method helps her inform her clients as to what to expect from the process. She is a forceful advocate on their behalf when litigation is necessary.

Ms. Soto also assists divorced clients who are seeking the enforcement of or modifications to existing support and parenting orders, and her experience has included paternity disputes, adoptions and the representation of domestic violence victims. In her bankruptcy practice, Ms. Soto works with clients who have become overwhelmed by their financial obligations and who are seeking debt relief through Chapter 7 bankruptcy. After graduating from Oral Roberts University with a Bachelor of Science in finance, Ms. Soto attended what was then known as the Miami Institute of Psychology and received a Master of Science with honors. She then attended Nova Southeastern University's Shepard Broad College of Law and was awarded her Juris Doctor in 2001.
