Attorney Profile

Attorney Hyram M. Montero founded his Fort Lauderdale personal injury law firm, Hyram M. Montero, P.A., with the goal of protecting the rights of victims of negligence who live and work in Fort Lauderdale, Miami, surrounding Miami-Dade and Broward counties, and throughout the state of Florida. Mr. Montero is a leading attorney in his practice area due to both his legal abilities and the compassion with which he treats his clients as they pursue compensation through personal injury or wrongful death actions.
Mr. Montero, an Illinois native, began his legal career in 1980 after earning his Juris Doctor from The John Marshall Law School and his approval to practice law in the state of Illinois. In 1982, The Florida Bar followed suit with its approval, as have the U.S. District Courts for the Northern District of Illinois and the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida.
In 1988, attorney Montero founded the first law firm in Broward County that offered legal services in multiple languages, thanks to his ability to speak both Spanish and Italian fluently. Today, he continues to proudly represent clients from different backgrounds. In addition, he serves the residents of South Florida's Hispanic and immigrant communities by serving as an executive board member emeritus with Hispanic Unity of Florida.
Mr. Montero's legal skills, extensive knowledge and dedication to his clients' needs have earned him much recognition from the legal community. He is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, and he is peer-rated as AV Preeminent* according to Martindale-Hubbell. In addition, the National Board of Trial Advocacy recognizes him as a board-certified civil trial lawyer. In 2013, Mr. Montero obtained a one-hundred-million dollar ($100,000,000) jury verdict in an aviation case in Broward County. This is one of the largest personal injury verdicts in Florida history.
