Marla Alayne Chicotsky

Founding partner of Chicotsky Law, P.A., in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Marla Alayne Chicotsky is a dedicated and attentive attorney assisting clients in matters of family law, criminal defense and DUI/DWI. She represents clients in all matters relating to family law, including dissolution of marriages, post-dissolution of marriage enforcement controversies, paternity actions, child time-sharing issues and temporary and permanent restraining orders.

Before gaining her Juris Doctor from St. Thomas University School of Law in 2007, Ms. Chicotsky held a bachelor's degree in political science from The University of Arizona. Kicking off her career as an assistant state attorney, she has prosecuted numerous criminal cases, including drug-related offenses, domestic violence and DUI. She later worked at a criminal defense and family law firm, where she harbored her interest in family law. 

As an ever-ready trial attorney, Ms. Chicotsky is licensed to practice in Florida and before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. She strives to provide her clients the best possible outcome and opportunities out of trial. Her experience has taught her that family law issues pose unique difficulties and that clients want a family lawyer to carefully assist them during a particularly trying period. In order to reassure her clients, she places a strong emphasis on consistent and transparent communication.

Throughout her career, Ms. Chicotsky has successfully prevented criminal charges from being filed by the State Attorney’s Office. She has also received multiple acquittals on behalf of her clients. Her continuous efforts were recognized by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation as a Top 40 Under 40. For receiving three consecutive not guilty verdicts, she received the Hat Trick Award from the Broward Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers in 2012.
