Martin J. Sperry

Martin J. Sperry is the founder and owner of Martin J. Sperry, P.A., a Fort Lauderdale-based law firm focused on insurance coverage and claims disputes in Florida. He assists individuals and beneficiaries in facing tough legal battles against insurance companies, protecting their rights across a diverse range of policy conflicts.

Mr. Sperry handles various insurance matters, including long-term and short-term disability insurance, individual disability insurance, ERISA claims, and life insurance disputes. He also represents clients in long-term care insurance, accidental death and dismemberment, and automobile insurance claims, working closely with policyholders to ensure they receive fair treatment and the benefits they are rightfully owed under the law.

Recognized for his specialized knowledge and litigation skills, Mr. Sperry is board-certified in civil trial practice by The Florida Bar. He also earned an AV Preeminent* peer-review rating through Martindale-Hubbell. Prior to focusing exclusively on policyholders, he spent years representing insurance companies, a background that provides him with unique insight into the defense tactics utilized by major insurers.

Mr. Sperry received his bachelor's degree from the University of Florida in 1969. He then earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 1971. Following law school, he served for two years as a law clerk for the chief judge of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

Admitted to practice law in Florida in 1972 and New York in 1983, Mr. Sperry is qualified to appear before the U.S. District Court for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States. He remains active in the legal community as a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, the Florida Justice Association, the Broward County Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice.
