    Russell R. O’Brien is the administrative partner and head of the electronic discovery group at Conrad & Scherer, L.L.P. Located in the firm’s office in Fort Lauderdale, he focuses his practice primarily on complex civil litigation, representing people and businesses in Broward County and throughout South Florida. Admitted to practice before all Florida state courts since 2010, Mr. O’Brien is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida.

    Mr. O’Brien has handled a wide variety of matters since joining the firm in July 2015. Representing both plaintiffs and defendants in class actions as well as single-party trials, his caseload has included federal securities law violations, professional negligence, probate litigation, breach of contract actions, bank fraud, shareholder and partner disputes, and allegations of fiduciary duties breaches. Mr. O’Brien has extensive admiralty and maritime law experience as well, and in this regard, he has worked on the defense and foreclosure of liens, ship sales and acquisitions, repair and refurbishment, and charter contracts.

    As an undergraduate, Mr. O’Brien attended the University of California, Berkeley, and he spent several months studying Arabic at The American University in Cairo before receiving a Bachelor of Arts in 2003. Some years later, he decided to pursue a legal education, and he enrolled at the University of Miami School of Law. After being awarded his Juris Doctor magna cum laude in 2010, Mr. O’Brien was an attorney at two national law firms, where he gained experience in class actions involving financial institutions before joining Conrad & Scherer, L.L.P.
