Details
The founder of his eponymous law firm, Jonathan D. Sooriash focuses his practice exclusively on tax compliance and audit issues. Based in Jacksonville, Florida, he helps individuals and businesses throughout the United States who are facing problems with the Internal Revenue Service or their state taxing authorities. Mr. Sooriash is admitted to practice before all Florida state courts as well as before the United States Tax Court.
Fluent in Spanish as well as English, Mr. Sooriash provides advice and counsel to clients who are the subject of proposed or pending collection actions in a variety of matters. These have included the failure to file tax returns or the underreporting of income that has led to unpaid tax amounts. Many of his clients have seen their bank accounts levied, their wages garnished, and liens placed on their real and personal property. In many cases, Mr. Sooriash has been able to negotiate favorable settlements with the applicable authorities, including offers in compromise, installment agreements, the release of levies and liens, and the return of assets that have been seized. Another part of his service is the preparation and submission of delinquent returns, including payroll taxes, and he has helped married people who were unaware of mistakes made on a joint return obtain what is known as "Innocent Spouse Relief."
Mr. Sooriash is held in high regard by his fellow attorneys for his successful track record, and this has led to his receipt of an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell and an "Excellent" peer review rating through Avvo. A graduate of Florida Coastal School of Law, from where he obtained his Juris Doctor in 2010, he also holds an LL.M. in taxation from the Chapman University Dale E. Fowler School of Law.
