Top Rated Medical Malpractice Attorney in Jacksonville, FL
Selected to Rising Stars: 2011, 2015 - 2016
An attorney at Coker Law, Lindsay L. Tygart focuses her practice exclusively on personal injury and wrongful death litigation. From the firm's offices in Jacksonville, Florida, she provides dedicated representation to clients throughout the state who have been harmed both economically and noneconomically by the negligence of other persons or entities. While Ms. Tygart's particular emphasis is on cases involving medical malpractice, she has experience in other areas as well, including nursing home neglect, defective products and motor vehicle accidents. She has been successful in obtaining sizable settlements and jury awards on behalf of her plaintiff clients, and her colleagues have taken note, as evidenced by her receipt of an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell.
Ms. Tygart majored in performing arts and art history at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and she received a Bachelor of Arts in 2002. As her father and two of her brothers were and are attorneys, it might have been natural for her to pursue a legal education, and she did, enrolling at Florida Coastal School of Law, where she was the president of the Coastal Law Mock Trial Team and served an internship with the Office of the Public Defender for the 4th Judicial Circuit before being awarded her Juris Doctor in 2006.
After graduation from law school, Ms. Tygart was associated with Jacksonville-area law firms before joining Coker Law in April 2017. Admitted to practice before all Florida state courts, she is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Florida. A member of the board of governors of the Jacksonville Bar Association, Ms. Tygart is also the vice president of the Jacksonville Justice Association.

- The difference between medical malpractice and a general negligence or your more run of the mill personal injury case such as an auto accident there are really 3 main differences. The first is that the statute of limitations in a medical malpractice case is only 2 years while typically in regular, run of the mill personal injury cases it is 4 years. The second is that there is a mandatory pre-suit period that Is outlined in chapter 7 66 of the Florida statute which delineates the mandatory pre-suit that every medical malpractice case has to go through. And third, before you can bring a claim for medical malpractice you have to secure expert support., What Is The Difference Between Nursing Home Neglect And Medical Malpractice?, 2019
