The founder of Lufrano Legal, P.A., Matthew I. Lufrano provides representation to his criminal defense clients in Jacksonville, Florida, and the surrounding areas. Before entering private practice, he served as an assistant public defender for the 4th Judicial District in Jacksonville for four years. The types of felonies and misdemeanor charges that he now handles on behalf of his clients include burglary, gun crimes, sex crimes, robbery, drug trafficking, assault and battery, child abuse and white collar offenses. Throughout the course of his career, Mr. Lufrano has tried over 82 jury trials to verdict. He is also the a past president of the Jacksonville Chapter of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

A longtime Jacksonville resident, Mr. Lufrano pursued his undergraduate studies at the University of Florida, where he graduated cum laude in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in political science. Mr. Lufrano was also inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society during his time there. Staying in Gainesville, Mr. Lufrano then attended the University of Florida Fredric G. Levin College of Law and was awarded his Juris Doctor in 2009. After his first year in law school, Mr. Lufrano served a summer internship with the Jacksonville office of the Federal Public Defender of the Middle District of Florida.

Admitted to practice before all Florida state courts, Mr. Lufrano stays abreast of current developments in his field of practice through his membership in the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is also active in his community through his participation in the annual charity chili contest sponsored by the Young Lawyers Section of the Jacksonville Bar Association. Mr. Lufrano also takes part in Lawyers in Libraries, a program initiated by Florida Legal Services in which attorneys give presentations to library patrons on various legal topics.
