Attorney Mitch Stone is the founding partner and owner of Mitchell A. Stone, P.A., one of North Florida's premiere legal practices for criminal defense with offices in Jacksonville. Holding national acclaim as one of the country's top criminal defense attorneys, Mr. Stone has achieved unprecedented success advocating on behalf of those accused of serious felony, white collar, and federal offenses as well as those facing misdemeanor and DUI charges.

Board-certified by The Florida Bar as a criminal trial law specialist with 30 years of trial experience, Mr. Stone possesses extensive knowledge of the criminal justice system. A veteran of more than 150 jury trials, he uses the invaluable insight as well as the experience he gained as a state prosecutor to deploy the most effective defense strategies possible for those he serves.

Mr. Stone attended the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he served as editor for the Florida Journal of International Law. He obtained his Juris Doctor in 1988 and his license to practice from The Florida Bar the following year. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Middle Districts of Florida and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit.

immediately upon graduating from law school Mr. Stone served with the state attorney's office in Miami and then in Jacksonville, starting as a DUI and domestic violence prosecutor he rose up the ranks with assignments in the special victims unit and homicide team. In 1992, he started his own private law practice, and since then, he has earned numerous awards and honors for his professionalism and service. In 2017 he was elected to the executive committee of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and will be president in 2020.

Along with holding an AV Preeminent peer review rating* from Martindale-Hubbell, he has received recognition as one of the Top Lawyers from Jacksonville Magazine, Florida Trend magazine as one of the state's "Legal Elite," as well as U.S. News & World Report as one of the nations “Best” Lawyer designation.
