Details

Jennifer S. Carroll is a leader in civil appeals law in Florida. She has been certified as a specialist in appellate practice by The Florida Bar since 1994. Based in Palm Beach County, Florida, she represents clients throughout the state. Her firm also specializes in complex civil litigation at the trial level, and she is the creator and host of Florida Appeals Journal, a video program dedicated to important issues in trial and appellate litigation.

Ms. Carroll practices before all Florida courts as well as the United States District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida, the 11th Circuit United States Court of Appeals, and the Supreme Court of the United States.

She has received an AV Preeminent* Peer-review rating from Martindale-Hubble, reflecting high regard by her colleagues.

Ms. Carroll brings a fresh perspective when reviewing the trial record for cases represented by other attorneys at the trial level. She reviews for possible legal issues or errors she can argue before a higher court. She also serves as consulting counsel at the pretrial, trial, and post-trial stages of litigation on significant issues of law, as well as to help preserve error for potential appeals.

Ms. Carroll has successfully argued cases involving business and commercial disputes; probate and will contest litigation; tort and insurance law; complex family law matters, including business and securities divisions; and numerous state and federal statutory causes of action.

Some of Ms. Carroll's cases include reversal of multi-million dollar judgment against international engineering company; obtaining judgment in favor of company against FDUPTA claims in arbitration; reversal of trial court's order appointing a professional guardian when contrary to wishes of ward; obtaining a judgment/finding of "no undue influence" by beneficiary in a will contest; reversal of orders against corporate shareholder which required signatures on contract against his will; reversal of judgment denying permanent alimony; obtaining judgment in favor of spouse in excess of 50% division based on extraordinary services and contribution to the marriage.

Ms. Carroll is creator and host of the YouTube video program, Florida Appeals Journal, which addresses important issues in trial and appellate practice.  Drawing on her three decades of appellate law experience, Ms. Carroll provides unique insight into issues facing practitioners today.

Ms. Carroll graduated cum laude from Stetson University, where she majored in political science and received a Bachelor of Arts in 1982. She attended Mercer University School of Law, and she was inducted into the Order of Barristers and awarded her Juris Doctorate in 1985. Before entering private practice, Ms. Carroll spent several years as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Ralph W. Nimmons, Jr. on the First District Court of Appeal in Tallahassee.
