Charles M. Auslander

Charles is a Florida Bar board-certified appellate specialist who has engaged in appellate practice and litigation support throughout his 30-year legal career, spending more than 15 years at the appellate departments of major law firms, including one of the largest law firms in the world.

He has handled appeals in five of Florida’s six district courts of appeal, the Florida Supreme Court, and several U.S. Courts of Appeals, including predominantly the Eleventh Circuit, and he has appeared as lead appellate counsel in more than 100 reported decisions in those state and federal courts.

His notable successes before the Supreme Court of Florida include a landmark decision that clarified the scope of the contemporary arbitration code with respect to the enforcement of erroneous legal determinations by the arbitrator. He also won a matter in that high court resulting in a modification of Florida state law to adopt federal forum non conveniens standards.

Charles previously served two terms The Florida Bar’s Appellate Courts Rules Committee, and during his second term chaired its General Practice subcommittee. He is also a former chief executive officer of The Children's Trust of Miami-Dade County and also a former chair of the board of a community-based not-for-profit organization in Miami that works with neighborhoods challenged by intergenerational poverty.  He has been AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell for many years.
