Leslie W. Langbein practices as an arbitrator and mediator. She is a member of the American Arbitration Association's Labor, Employment, Commercial, Consumer and Workplace Investigation panels of arbitrators as well as its national panel of mediators, including its Complex Commercial panel of mediators. Ms. Langbein also is a member of FMCS's national panel of labor arbitrators and AHLA's national panels of arbitrators and mediators. She is an approved mediator for the U.S. District Courts for the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida. Ms. Langbein has the distinction of being elected a Diplomate member of the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals and of the Florida Association of Professional Mediators. Ms. Langbein also serves as a Special Magistrate for the Florida Public Employees Relations Commission, and as a private judge, a Florida Qualified Arbitrator, fact-finder and hearing officer.
Ms. Langbein is a member of the Florida Bar and is Board Certified in Labor and Employment law. She practiced in this area for 42 years, starting as an Assistant City Attorney and then as Deputy City Attorney for the City of Hollywood, Florida. For nearly ten years thereafter, she served on an outside counsel basis as Florida International University's general Counsel. She is a former chair of the Florida Bar's Labor & Employment Law section and a member of its Executive Council. She is a frequent speaker and presenter at Florida Bar seminars including for the Florida Bar's ADR Section.
Ms. Langbein's legal practice included advice and representation in all areas of employment law including discrimination claims, wage and hour violations (overtime and minimum wage), DOL, EEOC and FEPA investigations, FMLA matters, breach of contract claims, and business torts among others. She also provided advice and representation in matters involving Fair Housing law and the ADA. She is admitted to practice in all Florida courts, the U.S. District Courts for the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida and the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals.
