Jason Sherry

Jason Sherry is a Miami commercial litigation attorney and the founder of Sherry Law Office PLLC, a boutique firm on Brickell Avenue. He has been practicing law since 2008 and represents companies and their owners in disputes where the business itself is on the line. Most of his clients are closely held and family owned companies, though he also represents individuals and publicly traded corporations. His cases typically involve:

·        Breach of contract and business fraud

·        Partnership, shareholder, and joint venture disputes

·        Officer, director, and fiduciary claims

·        Non-compete and trade secret disputes

·        Real estate and construction litigation

·        Trust and estate litigation

·        Franchise disputes and class actions

Mr. Sherry handles his cases personally, from the first phone call through trial, so the lawyer who learns the business is the same lawyer who takes the depositions and argues the motions. He brings large firm training to that work. He began his career at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP in New York, moved to Miami in 2012, and opened his own firm in January 2019.

Mr. Sherry has tried cases in state court, federal court, and arbitration. He is licensed in both Florida and New York, which allows him to follow a dispute into an out of state forum rather than hand it off. He is admitted in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Second and Eleventh Circuits.

Mr. Sherry also writes and speaks on litigation topics. He has written for Bloomberg, spoken at bar conferences, and received the Burton Award for Distinguished Legal Writing in 2016, an honor presented by the Library of Congress and the American Bar Association. Chief Judge Moore appointed him to the Local Rules Committee for the Southern District of Florida in 2018, and The Florida Bar appointed him to the statewide Civil Procedure Rules Committee, where he served as vice chair. He was selected to Florida Super Lawyers in 2021 and 2022, named one of South Florida's Top 40 Lawyers Under 40 in 2018, and recognized that year on the Southern District's Pro Bono Honor Roll.

Mr. Sherry earned his law degree from New York University School of Law in 2008 and his B.A. and B.S. from the University of Florida. He serves on the Business Litigation Committee of The Florida Bar, on the Leaders' Council of Legal Services of Greater Miami, and on the board of directors of the NYU Law Alumni Association. He is a past chairman of Florida Bar Grievance Committee 11P.
