Philip M. Gerson

Philip M. Gerson is a founder and senior partner at Gerson & Schwartz Accident & Injury Lawyers, based in Miami, Florida, where he focuses his practice on complex personal injury litigation. With decades of experience, he represents individuals and families in high-stakes disputes involving motor vehicle accidents, wrongful death claims, cruise ship incidents, premises liability, negligent security, nightclub security matters, Jones Act and seaman claims, tobacco litigation and cases involving crime victims.

Mr. Gerson earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Miami before continuing at the University of Miami School of Law, where he received his Juris Doctor, graduating cum laude, in 1969. During law school, he served on the editorial board of the law review, was a moot court winner and worked as a student instructor in legal research and writing, experiences that helped shape his analytical and advocacy skills.

Admitted to practice in Florida since 1970, Mr. Gerson is also admitted before the Supreme Court of the United States, the United States Court of Claims, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the 5th and 11th Circuits and the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida. In 1996, he became board-certified in civil trial law by The Florida Bar.

An active leader in the legal community, Mr. Gerson has been involved in numerous professional organizations, including the Dade County Bar Association, the Dade County Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice. She previously served as president of the National Crime Victim Bar Association.
