Daniel A. Velasquez is a partner in the firm’s bankruptcy and business reorganization department, and Chairman of the firm's Aviation Department. Mr. Velasquez advises clients in restructuring and aviation matters across Florida and the southeast. He regularly represents debtors, creditors, investors and asset-purchasers in financial restructuring and aviation transactions, out-of-court workouts and formal insolvency proceedings.
Mr. Velasquez has extensive experience representing clients in a wide range of industries which include financial services, healthcare, retail, real estate, aviation, hospitality, biomedical, chemical, marine construction, food service, toy & game manufacturing, transportation, technology, petroleum, software, flooring, and religious services. The confirmed plan restructured over $23 million of both secured and unsecured debt obligations including: (i) a $3.4 million dollar IRS tax claim which the airline successfully objected to and reduced to $223K; and (ii) a $1.4 million WARN Act claim which the airline also successfully objected to and reduced to $2K. The plan also featured a sale of the Debtor’s equity interests to Wexford Capital, LP, a private equity investor with over $3.9 billion in assets under management.
