    In 1976, Mr. McMillen graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science in government. He then attended Emory University School of Law and graduated in 1979 with his Juris Doctor. Since then, he has been a member of the State Bar of Georgia and The Florida Bar. A prolific author, he writes the malpractice law column each month for the Journal of the Florida Justice Association. He also co-authored a chapter in The Florida Bar’s Florida Medical Malpractice Handbook and has published several pieces for The Florida Bar Journal.

    Elected to serve as the Central Florida Trial Lawyers Association president, Mr. McMillen was also president of the Orange County Legal Aid Society and the Orange County Bar Association. A former member of the board of directors for the Florida Justice Association, he has also been the Malpractice Committee’s Chairman twice.

    Mr. McMillen is a Life Fellow of the American Bar Association and a former governor of The Florida Bar. Throughout his career, he has been invested and active in both professional and community organizations, and works directly with many community arts organizations and charitable foundations.
