Edward Downey

Attorney Edward Downey is a co-founder of the Downey | McElroy law firm in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Serving clients throughout Palm Beach County and the surrounding areas, Mr. Downey focuses his practice primarily on estate planning, probate and estate administration. A 1981 graduate of the University of Florida, Mr. Downey returned to his alma mater and attended the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he continues to serve on the school's board of trustees. He obtained his Juris Doctor in 1984, and The Florida Bar admitted him to practice that same year.

Highly active in his legal community, Mr. Downey served as chairman of the probate litigation committee for the Real Property, Probate, and Trust Law section of The Florida Bar, and is former president of the Palm Beach County Bar Association. He was elected as a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC), and he serves the organization as chairman of the ethics/malpractice subcommittee.

Recognized as a leader in estate planning and probate law, he writes extensively and regularly conducts lectures across his region and around the country on a variety of legal topics related to these legal areas.
