Attorney Profile

Leslie W. Loftus is the founder of Loftus Law, where she focuses her practice exclusively on divorce and other family law matters. From the firm's office in Sarasota, Florida, she provides representation to clients throughout the southwestern part of the state. Admitted to practice in both Florida and Illinois, Ms. Loftus is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the 8th and 11th Circuits.

In her divorce practice, Ms. Loftus works with people whose marriages are ending and who are thus having to deal with property division, child custody and visitation, and alimony and child support. Her background and experience in both mediation and collaborative law allows her to help many of her clients reach agreements on these matters through those methods of alternative dispute resolution, thereby avoiding the potential uncertainty and contentiousness of a trial. Other family law matters that Ms. Loftus has experience in include paternity establishment and disputes, the preparation and review of prenuptial agreements, and grandparents' rights, and she has also represented domestic violence victims who are seeking protective orders from the court.

Ms. Loftus has received the recognition of her colleagues for the high quality of her work as well as her ethical approach to what are often emotional matters, including an AV Preeminent* peer-review rating through Martindale-Hubbell and a 10.0 "Superb" peer-review rating through Avvo. The chair of the Twelfth Circuit Local Professionalism Panel, her memberships include the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. Civically-minded as well, Ms. Loftus serves on the board of trustees of the Florida House on Capitol Hill.

*AV®, AV Preeminent®, Martindale-Hubbell Distinguished and Martindale-Hubbell Notable are certification marks used under license in accordance with the Martindale-Hubbell certification procedures, standards and policies. Martindale-Hubbell® is the facilitator of a peer review rating process. Ratings reflect the anonymous opinions of members of the bar and the judiciary. Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Rating™ fall into two categories – legal ability and general ethical standards.
