The types of cases that he has handled have included the misappropriation of trade secrets, wage and hour disputes, workplace discrimination, fraud, contract and fiduciary duty breaches, trademark and copyright infringement, and business torts such as an interference with contractual relationships. His clients have included health care professionals, real estate developers and business owners, and his successful track record and high degree of ethics have earned him a great deal of recognition from his fellow members of the bar.     As an undergraduate, Mr. Gerdes attended Florida State University, where he majored in marketing and received a Bachelor of Science in 1978. After he graduated, he spent almost 20 years with a major defense contractor, working in procurement and manufacturing operations for such customers as the United States Armed Forces and large companies. He then enrolled at St. Thomas University School of Law, and he was the articles editor for the St. Thomas Law Review before being awarded his Juris Doctor with high honors in 1999.
