Richard Bush is a nationally recognized expert in legal malpractice matters and co-author of Professional Liability of Lawyers in Florida (The Florida Bar). His practice in defense of legal, medical and construction professionals covers all of Florida. He clerked for an Appeals Court judge and directs the firms' appellate practice. He and his partner Lisa Augspurger (Orlando office) are frequent speakers on professional liability matters and handle complex claims and litigation. Lisa Augspurger was the first recipient of the Lawton Chiles Superhero in the Life of a Child Award. Mr. Bush works with young men and women in scouting and hunting and as a church leader. - Mr. Bush has been a member of The Florida Bar since 1980. He has served as Chair of The Public Relations Committee, The Member Benefits Committee and The Annual Meeting Committee for The Florida Bar, and is a member of its Trial Lawyer Section. Mr. Bush served for two years as the Chair of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society's SE Chapter. Mr. Bush was The Reporter for The First All Bar Meeting of The Florida Bar. He chairs the Legal Professional Liability Committee of the Professional Liability Defense Federation. Mr. Bush is a member of The ABA, and is also a member of The ABA's Lawyers' Professional Liability Consortium. He is admitted in all federal districts in The State of Florida, and has been admitted pro hac vice in Alabama and South Carolina in legal malpractice cases.

- Although Mr. Bush lives in Tallahassee, Florida, he has tried professional liability cases to jury verdicts in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties, as well as numerous communities in North Florida. Mr. Bush has also tried cases in Orlando, and in federal court in Pensacola.

He currently serves as general counsel for the Suwannee River Area Coucil Boy Scouts of America. His son is an Eagle Scout. Mr. Bush was an Adult Leader in the YMCA's Y-Indian Princess Program with his daughters. Mr Bush is a Elder at First Presbyterian Church in Tallahassee, Florida, where he has served as a Sunday School Teacher and Youth Group Leader. - Mr. Bush is a graduate of Tampa Jesuit High School. He obtain a B.A. in Political Science from The University of South Florida in 1976. He obtained a J.D. from THe University of Florida's College of Law in 1979.
Scholarly Lectures / Writings
- Mr. Bush has prepared lecture outlines and given lectures for education credits at The ABA's Legal Malpractice Committee, The Florida Bar, The American Association of Trial Lawyers, The Florida Association of Trial Lawyers, the Professional Liability Underwriter's Society's Chapter events in Chicago, IL, Atlanta, GA, and Richmond VA, the Professional Liability Defense Federation and numerous local Bar Associations. He has spoken and presented papers at two national conferences of The National Association of Legal Assistants. He has also spoken at the Regional and local meetings of The Association of Legal Administrators. Mr. Bush has been a visiting lecturer at the law schools of The University of Florida, Florida State University, Stetson College of Law, Tulane and The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Mr. Bush is the author of "The Professional Liability of Lawyers in Florida" chapter on "Litigation" and serves on the Steering Committee. The text, which is a publication of The Florida Bar, is in its 4th Edition. He has also coauthored the "Certified Legal Assistants Study Guide" Chapter on Ethics, 1993. Mr. Bush is an Honorary Associate Professor of Florida State University's (FSU) Center for Biomedical & Toxicological Research; and FSU's Institute for Central and Eastern European Cooperative Environmental Research. He was appointed to serve on The International Advisory Board of the six Biannual Conclaves of The International Symposium and Exhibition on Environmental Contamination in Central and Eastern Europe. Mr. Bush made presentations and chaired sessions at each of the Conclaves in Budapest; Hungary; Warsaw; Poland; and, Prague in the Czech Republic.
