Scott E. Gwartney

Scott E. Gwartney is an attorney based in Tallahassee, Florida, concentrating on long-term care, nursing home and ALF litigation as well as medical malpractice litigation. A native of Tallahassee, he functions as a partner at Brooks, LeBoeuf, Foster & Gwartney, extending his practice throughout Florida and Georgia.

Mr. Gwartney graduated magna cum laude from Liberty University. He then pursued his legal education at Florida State University College of Law, earning his Juris Doctor in 1991.

The first decade of his career was under the mentorship of Kenneth L. Connor, who tried the first nursing home case in the state of Florida. The Connor & Gwartney firm was a Plaintiff's personal injury firm, with a special focus on nursing home and medical malpractice litigation.  His career is marked by a deep commitment to the protection of dignity and respect for the most vulnerable of our citizen, whether they be senior citizens or the disabled, paralleling his belief that the most vulnerable among us should be afforded the greatest of care and consideration.

With a formidable presence in the courtroom, Mr. Gwartney has secured numerous verdicts and settlements of $1 million or more across three states, reflecting the breadth of his experience and dedication. His most active practice spans south Florida to north Georgia, but he is also licensed in Tennessee, Texas and Virginia. His legal expertise has earned him recognition from his peers as one of the Nation’s Top One Percent by the National Association of Distinguished Counsel, and he maintains a continuous presence in the list of Top 100 Trial Lawyers by the National Trial Lawyers.
