An attorney with the law firm of Novey+Gonzalez, LLC, Shannon L. Novey is a highly experienced attorney who brings her background in handling complex corporate financial transactions to help her clients navigate complex property division and family law matters throughout Northern Florida, including the Panhandle and Tallahassee. Ms. Novey's family law practice includes divorce, alimony, child support, enforcement actions, modifications, parenting plans, paternity, relocation, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, assisted reproductive technology, and uncontested adoptions by family members.
Ms. Novey graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the Florida State University in 1991. She subsequently decided to pursue a Juris Doctor at Florida State University College of Law, from which she graduated with honors in 1999. Ms. Novey is admitted to practice law before the state courts of Florida and the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
Following law school, Ms. Novey worked in the area of corporate finance and regulatory transactions until she joined Novey+Gonzalez, LLC, in 2007. Since that time, she has used the knowledge she gained to assist her clients in handling complex family law issues involving property division, child custody, and spousal and child support. Ms. Novey is board-certified in marital and family law through The Florida Bar Board of Legal Specialization & Education and is a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. She was listed in The Best Lawyers in America from 2014 to 2016 and was named as the Tallahassee family law "Lawyer of the Year."
Ms. Novey previously served as an adjunct professor at Florida State University College of Law in Florida family law practice. She has authored several legal articles about the practice of family law and has given presentations about different aspects of the topic.
