He graduated with his Juris Doctor in 1983 and gained his license to practice law in Florida and the District of Columbia. He is also admitted before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

After law school, Mr. Bentley clerked for the Honorable Lewis F. Powell, Jr. at the Supreme Court of the United States and the Honorable Clement F. Haynsworth, Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit. The recipient of several accolades over the years for his commitment to the spirit of the legal profession, he has been added to The Best Lawyers in America publication and listed in the Chambers USA under the litigation category. Furthermore, he was named to the Top Lawyers list by the Tampa Magazine in 2018. 

Maintaining an active presence in his community and the legal circle, Mr. Bentley is a member of the Lawyer Advisory Committee on Rules formed by the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida and a Master at the Herbert G.
