John C. Distasio

As a lead litigation attorney at The Florida Law Group, located in Tampa, Florida, John C. Distasio offers legal services to individuals who have suffered serious injuries due to the negligence of others. His practice focuses on personal injury litigation, with an emphasis on semi-truck crash cases. He also handles claims involving motor vehicle accidents, slip-and-fall and trip-and-fall incidents, premises liability, catastrophic injuries, traumatic brain injuries, child injuries, burn injuries, dog bites, and other negligence matters.

Mr. Distasio brings substantial trial experience and a strategic approach to advocating for injured individuals. Before entering private practice, he served the people of Florida as an assistant state attorney in the 13th Judicial Circuit. During his tenure, he worked alongside some of the state’s respected prosecutors and tried more than 100 jury and nonjury cases. This experience provided him with a strong foundation in trial preparation, courtroom advocacy and case strategy, skills he applies when pursuing favorable outcomes for his clients.

Mr. Distasio’s academic background reflects his commitment to developing his legal knowledge and advocacy skills. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Florida State University before obtaining his Juris Doctor from Florida International University College of Law. While in law school, he participated on the trial team and received the Book Award in Florida Law and Procedure. He later earned a Master of Laws degree in Advocacy from Stetson University College of Law, further strengthening his litigation and trial advocacy skills.

Admitted to practice law in Florida in 2012, Mr. Distasio is also authorized to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Florida. His experience across criminal prosecution and civil litigation provides valuable perspective when evaluating evidence, preparing cases and presenting arguments in court.
