Over Michael K. Horowitz’s career, which extends for more than 34 years, he has been recognized by the legal community for his high level of service. As a partner and shareholder in the law firm of Matheson and Horowitz, he assists clients statewide from his office in Vero Beach, Florida, with cases pertaining to workers’ compensation, veterans' affairs and Social Security Disability. 

Qualified to practice in Florida since 1990, Mr. Horowitz has also appeared in every workers' compensation district in the state of Florida, before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, and numerous administrative courts on Social Security and Veteran's Disability claims. He majored in philosophy and political science and obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University, Tallahassee. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan.

Mr. Horowitz is a past President of Florida Workers Advocates, the leading claimant's representative Bar in Florida, which focuses on protecting the rights of injured workers, and remains of the organizations' executive board. Mr. Horowitz is also the immediate past-President of the Robert D. McAliley American Inns of Court, an organization he started along the Treasure Coast and Palm Beaches to promote ethics and professionalism in the law.  He maintains memberships in the Indian River County Bar Association and the St. Lucie County Bar Association.

In honor of his accomplishments and outstanding client service, Mr. Horowitz has received many awards and honors. For multiple years in a row, he has been AV Preeminent peer-review rated,* the highest rating, through Martindale-Hubbell. He has also been listed by Lawyers of Distinction for his excellence in the practice of law and was named to the Marquis Who's Who Top Lawyers in 2021. He has also been named a Super Lawyer since 2022.

An ardent and enthusiastic speaker, Mr. Horowitz presents annually at the Florida Workers’ Advocates Educational Conference and is speaking at the 2024 WCI Florida Workers Compensation Conference in Orlando. He has also been a part of The Florida Bar Workers’ Compensation Forum for several consecutive years.

Giving back to his clients and the local community is important to Mr. Horowitz. He provides pro bono services to economically disadvantaged individuals and is a part of various organizations such as the Friends of 440 and Sunrise Theatre. He also participated in the Abraham Kriel Children's Home fundraising program for traumatized children and youth since 2016 and has visited the home several times in Potchefstroom, South, Africa.

  • Caleb Rich v. Brevard County Board of County Commissioners. Prevailed at trial, awarding authorization of epidural injections. , 2023
  • Zilnicki v. Steward Sebastian River Medical Center. Prevailed at trial in October 2022 with award including past due indemnity benefits of approximately $65,000, plus penalties and interest, and benefits continuing at a rate of $767.73 weekly, authorization of surgery and continuing medical treatment, and defeating a defense of misrepresentation. Defense appealed, and oral arguments are scheduled for 8/22/2023 before the 1st DCA. One of two cases selected annually to be argued at the Annual WCI Workers Compensation Conference in Orlando. , 2023
