John M. Howe

The attorney behind his eponymous law firm, John M. Howe has been assisting the residents of West Palm Beach, Florida, for nearly 25 years. Proficient and compassionate, he is eager to help those in need and creates custom-tailored strategies to protect his clients. His areas of practice include personal injury, wrongful death, criminal defense, immigration law, and business and commercial litigation.

After completing his bachelor’s degree from Loyola University New Orleans in 1994, Mr. Howe obtained his master’s in business administration from the University of Florida. Later in 1998, he earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. He was admitted to practice in Florida the same year.

Hailing from West Palm Beach, Florida, Mr. Howe remains involved in his legal community by maintaining active memberships in The Florida Bar, the Florida Justice Association, the National Bar Association – Virgil Hawkins Florida Chapter, the Palm Beach County Justice Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the F. Malcolm Cunningham, Sr. Bar Association and the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

Known for procuring some record-setting verdicts over the course of his career, Mr. Howe has successfully represented hundreds of businesses, immigrants and families in addition to individuals accused of charges ranging from minor offenses to major felony crimes in state and federal courts. Furthermore, he has experience functioning as the County Court Division Chief at the Palm Beach County Public Defender's Office.

Mr. Howe’s commitment to his clients has resulted in a number of honors and awards, including earning an AV Preeminent* rating from Martindale-Hubbell; getting selected as a legal trailblazer in South Florida by the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida; and being included in South Florida’s 25 Most Influential Blacks in Business by Jamaican Magazine and South Florida’s 100 Most Accomplished Caribbean Americans by ICABA Salutes.

Several organizations have had the pleasure of counting Mr. Howe among their leadership positions. He is a former board member of the Palm Beach County Bar Association and was elected as its 89th president in 2012. He was among the board of directors of the Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County, the Urban League of Palm Beach County and the Historical Society of Palm Beach County. He is a former president of the Palm Beach Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and has also served The Florida Bar in multiple capacities.
