After leaving the state attorney’s office in 1996, Mr. Brill dedicated his practice to plaintiffs’ civil trial work, gaining substantial experience in personal injury and maritime law, including the Jones Act, and the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act. His work often involves representing cruise line crew members worldwide, making maritime law a significant part of his practice.
Mr. Brill recently achieved a landmark verdict in Broward County, securing nearly $845 million in a wrongful death case, marking the largest verdict of its kind in the county's history. He has also won significant verdicts in maritime trials, including $9.5 million and has secured numerous recoveries exceeding $1 million.
Throughout his career, Mr. Brill has argued cases before the United States Courts of Appeals for the 11th and 9th Circuits, as well as the Florida 3rd and 4th District Courts of Appeal. He has also contributed briefs to the Supreme Court of the United States.

- David was co-lead counsel in a trial in Broward County, His Honor Judge John Luzzo presiding, in which the jury was charged with the responsibility of ascertaining the damages in a tragic, default wrongful death case to which BRILL & RINALDI, The Law Firm clients, a widow and her adult son, and the decedents estate were all entitled. The jury awarded nearly $845 million, the largest verdict in the nation of the year and believed to be the largest wrongful death automobile case in the history of Broward County
