Verdicts / Settlements (Case Results)

• Kohl v. Pluris Wedgefield, LLC, Case No. 2020-CA-004390-O, Fla. Cir. Ct. Orange Cty. Jason Fraxedas and Maher Law Firm attorneys served as class counsel in this class action that involved drinking water contamination of an Orange County, Florida neighborhood. They successfully negotiated a settlement that provided members of the class with $3.3 million in monetary relief and significant equitable remedies in the form of increased water monitoring and testing. The final order approving class settlement was entered on April 6, 2023.
• In re: Yasmin and YAZ (Drospirenone) Marketing, Sales Practices and Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2100. This multidistrict litigation involved claims against Bayer AG and other entities involved in the manufacture and marketing of birth control medications containing drospirenone. Jason Fraxedas served on the discovery committee. The litigation resulted in settlements worth approximately $1.8 billion.
• In re: Actos Litigation (MDL 2292) and (Ill. Cir. Ct. Cook County; Case No., 2011 L 010011); This multidistrict litigation involved claims against Takeda Pharmaceutical Company relating to the marketing and manufacture of the type II diabetic drug Actos. Jason Fraxedas served on the trial team of one of the first bellwether cases. The litigation resulted in settlements worth approximately $2.4 billion.
• In re: Avandia Marketing, Sales Practices and Products Liability Litigation, MDL No.: 1871; This multidistrict litigation involved claims against Glaxosmithkline relating to their marketing and manufacture of the type II diabetic drugs Avandia, Avandamet and Avandaryl. Jason Fraxedas represented hundreds of clients and successfully resolved their claims. The litigation resulted in settlements worth approximately $2 billion.
• In re: Testosterone Replacement Therapy Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2545; This multidistrict litigation involved claims against Eli Lilly, Endo Pharmaceuticals, Allergan, Abbvie, Actavis and Glaxosmithkline involving the manufacture and marketing of testosterone replacement topical creams and gels. The Maher Law Firm was selected to two bellwether trial teams and served on the discovery committee. The litigation resulted in settlements worth approximately $1 billion.
• In re: Coloplast Corp. Pelvic Support Systems Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2387; This multidistrict litigation involved claims against Coloplast related to transvaginal mesh implantable medical devices. The Maher Law Firm successfully resolved claims for dozens of injured women. In addition, The Maher Law Firm obtained a $2.5 million verdict in the Middle District of Florida on behalf of a client who elected not to resolve her case as part of the global MDL settlement. (Redding v. Coloplast Corp., Case No. 6:19-cv-1857).
• In re: Xarelto (Rivaroxaban) Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2592; This multidistrict litigation involved claims against Johnson & Johnson and Bayer involving the pharmaceutical drug Xarelto (Rivaroxaban). The Maher Law Firm represented dozens of injured patients and successfully resolved their claims.
• In re: Boston Scientific Corp., Pelvic Repair System Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2326; This multidistrict litigation involved claims against Boston Scientific related to transvaginal mesh implantable medical devices. Maher Law Firm successfully resolved claims for dozens of injured women.
• In re: Ethicon, Inc., Pelvic Repair System Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2327; This multidistrict litigation involved claims against Ethicon related to transvaginal mesh implantable medical devices. The Maher Law Firm successfully resolved claims for dozens of injured women.
• In re: Mirena IUD Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2434; This multidistrict litigation involved claims against Bayer related to implantable intrauterine devices. The Maher Law Firm attorneys successfully resolved claims for dozens of injured women.
• In re: Taxotere (Docetaxel) Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2740; This pending multidistrict litigation involves claims against Accord, Sandoz and Hospira involving the chemotherapy drug Docetaxel. The Maher Law Firm was appointed to serve on the bellwether committee, the law and briefing committee, and the 505(b)(2) committee of this ongoing litigation.
