Douglas Chandler is the founding attorney of Chandler Law, LLC, located in Alpharetta, Georgia, and is board-certified in legal malpractice by the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys. Since 1999, he has been licensed to practice in Georgia and is admitted to appear before the Georgia Supreme Court, the Georgia Court of Appeals and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia. His practice concentrates on:
Legal malpractice
Probate and estate planning
Tax law
Alternative dispute resolution
Professional malpractice matters
A native of LaFayette in Walker County, Georgia, Mr. Chandler earned a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from Auburn University in 1992. Upon graduation, he received a commission as a reserve officer in the U.S. Navy, ultimately serving as a lieutenant and naval flight officer aboard the Grumman E-2C “Hawkeye” aircraft.
Following his active-duty service, Mr. Chandler pursued his legal education at Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law, where he served on the board of directors for the Cordell Hull Speakers Forum. While there, he sharpened his skills through a clerkship with the Honorable D. Al Crowson in Alabama state court and worked at an Atlanta firm, culminating in his Juris Doctor in 1999.
In January 2025, the Georgia Supreme Court appointed Mr. Chandler as vice chair of its Standing Committee on the Unlicensed Practice of Law, a role he will hold for a three-year term. In this capacity, he oversees the review of activities potentially constituting the unauthorized practice of law and evaluates district committee findings to determine the necessity of formal litigation. He previously contributed to the work of this body as a member of the District 5 Committee from 2003 to 2009.
Beyond his professional commitments, Mr. Chandler remains deeply engaged in the Atlanta community. He has held leadership positions within his church and his children’s school, and at high-profile charity events such as the Fernbank Museum of Natural History’s Lost Oasis fundraiser.
A respected lecturer and panelist, Mr. Chandler shares his expertise at industry conferences and continuing legal education seminars. His dedication to ethics and professional excellence has been recognized with the State Bar of Georgia’s inaugural Young Lawyer Ethics & Professionalism Award in 2005 and inclusion in Georgia Trend Magazine’s Legal Elite in both 2012 and 2014.
