Attorney Daniel Philyaw is a partner at Butler Prather LLP, which has three offices across the State of Georgia. Over the course of his legal career, Mr. Philyaw has achieved remarkable success fighting for the rights and entitlements of his plaintiff clients. Mr. Philyaw served as counsel in Brogdon v. Ford Motor Company, a products liability case which resulted in a $2.5 billion verdict believed to be the largest in Georgia history. Mr. Philyaw also served as counsel in Hill v. Ford Motor Company, which resulted in a $1.7 billion verdict. Additionally, Mr. Philyaw has helped secure a $151 million verdict in another products liability case, a $135.5 million verdict in an environmental nuisance case, and a $2.8 million verdict in a personal injury action.
Mr. Philyaw has also obtained many other favorable outcomes for his plaintiff clients, and he has gained a reputation for his compassion and integrity as well as his unwavering commitment to helping his clients obtain the maximum amount of compensation they deserve. A magna cum laude graduate of the University of Missouri, Mr. Philyaw obtained his Juris Doctor cum laude in 2018 from the University of Georgia School of Law. While there, Mr. Philyaw succeeded in several moot court and mock trial competitions, winning Best Oralist at the Billings, Exum, & Frye National Moot Court Competition and Best Oralist at the Georgia Intrastate Moot Court Competition in 2017. He also won the 2016 J. Melvin England Mock Trial Tournament and placed as runner-up in the 2016 J. Ralph Beaird Closing Argument Competition.
At graduation, Mr. Philyaw was inducted into the Order of Barristers, and since receiving his license to practice, he has been admitted to practice before all U.S. District Courts in Georgia as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th and 11th Circuits.
